About
My name is Kathryn Wright. I also go by Kathryn Kim. I currently live in Georgia, USA. I have a husband Cliff) who is a company man and a son (Chase) who is in elementary school (3rd grade). This Fall we decided to relocate to Tokyo, Japan and this blog is my attempt to document the process and adventures of our TransPacific move. I can’t promise regular entries, but I can promise that they will be honest and current. Enjoy!
September 13th 2011 (Update)
It was brought to my attention I wasn’t being current enough. As of August 10th Chase and I landed in Tokyo Japan to start our new lives here. Chase has started 4th grade. Thank you for staying in touch with your comments and readership. I keep trying to report my experiences with humor, honesty, and insight.

This is the official Forum for expats all over the world. I found it to be incredibly helpful before and during my relocation process.

Hi Kathryn,
I just nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award! (See http://kimchimari.com/2013/01/22/one-lovely-blog/ for more details on the award) It’s funny how first my blog helped you remember your mom and then your blog helped me during my relocation to Korea.. Thank you for sharing with us..Good luck in your new place.
Kathryn:
Hi! I miss you. I did not know that you were going to quit Facebook, so it has been hard not knowing what is going on with you. I was looking for Cliff’s e-mail by checking out his company and found your blog. I hope that everything is going well. I have very few good friends and feel that I lost one when you move to Japan. Please stay in touch!!

Hi Kathryn,
Nice to meet you too! Sounds like you’ve been exploring lots of Tokyo!
About the blowtorch, I need to go to kappabashi in the next couple of weeks to pick up some cooking utensils for a friend. Kappabashi is this 8-block section of Tokyo that has every cooking implement that’s probably ever been invented (basically, if you want to open a restaurant, they have everything there, including the plastic models that they put on the window fronts). If you want, we can plan an excursion out, or I can let you know which places carry blowtorches. I’m heading to a pastry-shop, so I’m sure they would have one.
Keep up the writing! Fun to read.
Katherine,
Recently 2 fellow bloggers past on the “Liebster Blog Award” to me. It is given to bloggers with gret blogs.

All the best to you and your family in your new life in Japan – I am sure it will be quite an adventure. Are you moving there permanently or it is temporary?
Which area of Tokyo are you staying? I think one of your blog posts indicated that your Tokyo apartment was 2,500 sq ft – that is huge by Tokyo standards. My family (me, wife, son) stayed at a 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath apartment which was 1,000 sq ft (still large by Tokyo standards).
Enjoyed reading about your trips! Great pics! xx
Transatlantic move????? Did they move Japan when I was asleep Kathryn???

The earthquake moved Japan, but probably not that much. Geography is not my strong suit. Thanks for pointing that out.
love you!
